Diving Accessories

Diving accessories range from the inane to the absolutely necessary. Some accessories are very application dependant. For example, if you were engaging in a dive for the construction of an undersea oil rig, things like a hose running to the surface for concrete, industrial lighting, and rebar all become an important accessory to your dive. Underwater construction poses special construction challenges. Rigging, welding, and setting concrete are all more difficult underwater, in fact there’s a specialized type of concrete specifically for this application.

But none of those diving accessories really apply to a recreational diver, or even a scientific one. For the scientist, a tow-sub with onboard computer that can take readings such as temperature, current, and pressure as the scientist goes about the dive would be an especially useful tool. For the recreational diver, they may need nothing more than their suit, some air, and a simple dive computer to track their air use and depth.

One of the diving accessories that is extremely underrated is an underwater camera. The breathtaking views you are treated to while exploring the sea are a thing of wonder. Taking them back to share with people on dry land is a great way to introduce friends to the wonderful world of diving. For those looking at professional photography, magazines such as national geographic are quite fond of the underwater panoramic shot.
